NEWS FROM TURKEY

WE HAVE CELEBRATED :23 April National Sovereignty and Children's Day

Every year, the children in Turkey celebrate this "Sovereignty and Children's Day" as a national holiday. Schools participate in week-long ceremonies marked by performances in all fields in large stadiums watched by the entire nation. Among the activities on this day, the children send their representatives to replace state officials and high ranking bureaucrats in their offices. The President, the Prime Minister, the Cabinet Ministers, provincial governors all turn over their positions to children's representatives. These children, in turn, sign executive orders relating to educational and environmental policies. On this day, the children also replace the parliamentarians in the Grand National Assembly and hold a special session to discuss matters concerning children's issues.

Fancy-Dress Party in Kerekegyháza

The Carnival time lasts from Epiphany ( 6th January) to Ash Wednesday.

This also means farewell to winter, which is celebrated with the famous „Mohács Búsójárás” (Busó-walking). The celebration features Busós (people wearing traditional masks) and includes folk music, masquerading, parades and dancing. Busójárás lasts six days.
In our school a large Fancy-Dress Party is organised every year.

As the beginning of the ceremony the school-leaver students danced a beautiful waltz.
After that other dance groups danced, then came the pupils dressed in nice and interesting fancy dresses.
We had a great time as the good music was given, we could dance and talk a lot.
Moreover, doughnut and sandwiches could be eaten with tea.

We could buy as many raffles as we wanted, and hoped that we win one of the cakes!

As we are in Year 7, we were responsible for cleaning after the party. It was tiring, but we left school with beautiful memories that evening.

Chritsmas in Spain

CHRISTMAS

Hello! I’m Natalia and I’m going to talk about my Christmas.
On Christmas Eve, I went to the cinema with my cousin to see a film. After that, I came back home and my family met and we sang carols. Then, I went out with my friends to a party.
On Christmas day, I went shopping with my mum. I bought a dress, a skirt, trousers and boots. In the evening I went out with some friends for a drink. Then, my family got together. I got a TV, a perfume and some money for Christmas.
On Boxing Day, my dad’s boss gave him the Christmas present. On this day, my dad and my mum went to the cinema and when they came back, they, my brother and I went to have luch in a restaurant.
On New Year’s Eve, I went to Seville to see a concert. At night, my family gathered, we had dinner and at twelve o’clock we ate twelve grapes while we listened to the chimes. Then, we sang and danced. Immediately later, I gave a present to my mum, because 1st January is her birthday. After that, I got dressed and went to the party with my friends.
On New Year’s Day, my family met because it is New Year but we also met because it is my mum’s birthday. We met at my grandmother’s. My mum made a cake and then we sang and danced all the evening.
On 5th January, I saw the Three Wise Men parade and I caught some balls, candies, toys and soft toys... After that, I went home, I had dinner with my family and I went to sleep.
On 6th January, when I woke up I saw the present that the Three Wise Men brought me. This year the Three Wise Men brought me a camera, high heels, some pyjamas and a dressing gown. Then, I went to the other houses of my family to pick other presents. In these houses the Three Wise Men brought me money, a scarf and a schoolbag.

This year, I made new year’s resolutions and these resolutions are:
I’m going to study more.
I’m going to watch TV less.
I’m going to play on the computer less.
I’m going to speak with my mum more.
I’m going to try to get very good marks.
I’m going to love my grandmother a lot.
I’m going to love my family very much.
I’m going to get on well with my family.
I’m not going to moan about everything.

Christmas in Spain

The days before Christmas my family and me sent Christmas cards, decorated the Christmas tree and my house…

On Christmas Eve I went to my friend’s house to do my hair for the night. In the afternoon, I went to my house and I dressed up and in the evening I went to the Midnight Mass. Then my family met to eat at my grandfather’s. After that I went to my party and there we sang carols and had fun all together.

On Christmas Day when I got up, under the tree I had a present, it was money. Santa Claus was kind with me. Then I went to eat at my grandmother’s and after that, I met my friends to go for a walk and we went to some parties. At night I came back to my house, I was very tired and I went to sleep very early.

On Boxing Day I went with my friends to the country side. We did a lot of things, among them we rode horses, sang, danced and played table tennis. When we came back, we went to eat to a restaurant and later we went to a pub. On this day all my friends had a hangover.

New Year’s Eve was very similar to Christmas Eve, but it changed at night because we had fireworks, we ate the twelve grapes with the chimes for the New Year. Then my father drove me to my party and I came back to my house very late. I loved this day, it was very fun.

On New Year’s Eve I went out with my friends and we had fun. We sang and danced all together. Other friends came back to our party and together we formed a big group.

On 5th of January I got up at nine o’clock because I had to go to buy some things for the parades because I was dressed as a servant of one of the Three Wise Men. At five o’ clock we began the route and finished at eleven o’ clock. After that, we went to some parties and came back home late.

On 6th of January my sisters got me up very early to see the presents of the Three Wise Men. I got some scent, some money, a belt, two books, a bra, a wax heater, a handbag, a mobile phone and some clothes for Christmas. After eating, I went out with my friends.

1.Obtain better marks.
2.Listen more to my mother.
3.To go out playing in the music band.
4.Learn more French.
5.To go to England.

I was in Turkey!

„We started our journey to the remote Turkey on 3rd October at 2 o’clock pm. The travel was tiring but we laughed a lot and the landscape was so beautiful that on Monday nobody could notice if we slept at night or not.

As we arrived, the Turkish students were already waiting for us at the entrance door of the school. It was great to see them.

The first day we hiked. It was nice but exhausting as well. We saw a lot of interesting plants.

On the second day we went to Istanbul where we could see a lot of nice and interesting things like the Blue Mosque, the Topkapi Palace and the Ayasofya.

Next day we travelled to Yalova where we saw a very nice botanical garden and we could swim at the thermal pool, too. There everybody had a really great time.

The following day we took part in the Turkish lessons at school and we could get to know the Turkish way of teaching and learning. After school we had lunch and later came the programme that we, the Hungarian team waited for very much: we went to the Rákóczi Museum. This museum is important for us because it is Hungarian-related.

Then came the day that nobody waited for, I think: we had to leave Turkey.

It was very difficult to say good-bye because we became very good friends during this week. We all have really pleasant memories of this meeting.”

Students' impressions from a trip to Turkey

"In my opinion a trip to Turkey was one of the best expeirences in my life.
I must admit that the way to Turkey was exhausting but it was worth an effort
When we arrived we were fondly welcomed by turkish families. We got to know about turkish culture and lifestyle and that was really interesting for me. Moreover we have visited many beautiful places like Hagia Sophia and Sultan Ahmed Mosque - it was great! However the best thing that I was really delighted was my kindred spirit, in which home I was hosting." Ilona Jachym

"In my opinion a trip to Turkey was awesome. We visited many interesting places, but the most I liked was accomondation in turkish families and trip to Istambul. When we arrived everyone friendly welcomed us. We got to know about turkish lifestyle, habbits and turkish culture.
We visited many beautiful objects. I really liked Sultan Ahmed Mosque - place for pray for turkish people. I liked this trip and I'd like to come to Turkey again." Patrycja Rybska

"Everyone was pleasantly surprised by great atmosphere for the whole trip.
We were very tried when we came to Turkey, we didn't know what can we expect in Turkey. But our fears went away, when we met turkish people, because they were very kind for us. After first day in Tekirdag our relations with turkish people got better and better and it was a lot of fun. But the farewell was really sad and we couldn't stop crying." Kaja Obermajer

"Trip to Turkey was for me wonderfull experience.
First I was really scared, because Turkey is much more different than Poland,
but when we came to Turkey I've change my mind. In my turkish family everything was very enjoyable, and they were doing everything to make me happy. Atmosphere and realtions between family members were amazing. Visiting Istambul and Yalova was great experience. Integration with hungarian, spanish and turkish people was really educating. We vistied many interesting places because we were travelling by bus. If I have chance to go to Turkey again I wouldn't miss it." Martyna Wesołowska
